Why Am I Here - What do I want to Learn?

  • Identify and explain 5 reasons why you chose to study on this programme.
  1. Location of the course ...Leeds!
  2. The interaction/relationship the tutors have with the students.
  3. The prospects the course offers.
  4. The network within industry the course has.
  5. The content and depth of the course.
  • Identify and explain 5 things that you want to learn during your time on the programme.


  1. To gain a deeper understanding of graphic design.
  2. To provide me with a knowledge of possible areas within graphic design I could specialise in.
  3. To educate me on how to manage my time effectively and deal with multiple briefs. 
  4. To gain vital connections and networks within the creative industry ready for work after my degree.
  5. To design graphics and learn how to get the best out of each brief I am set.
  • Identify and explain 5 skills that you think are your strengths.
  1. Traditional print processes; this is an area I truly enjoy.
  2. Layout and composition; I think I have always been naturally good at this however there is still room for improvement.
  3. Knowing what colours to use together in order to compliment each other.
  4. Organisation; I like to ensure to I know what I am doing and when, especially with all the brief we are given! 
  5. Focus; once I have an idea I will stick to it and do my best to achieve results.

  1. Time management- I began to improve this at the end of year 1 by producing weekly time plans, so I plan on continuing to do this.
  2. Fully reading each brief I work on to ensure I am fully answering the briefs requirements. 
  3. My software skills, in particular Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects.  
  4. Presentation skills ...I hate having to present! As this is a frequent role of a graphic designer it is something I really need to work on. 
  5. My interaction with industry to enable me to get the best out of my work (i.e printers)

  1. Blogging my thoughts and feedback received. 
  2. Engage in crits.
  3. Critical feedback from peers and tutors at any given opportunity.
  4. End of module evaluation.
  5.  Re-visiting previous evaluations to see if progress has been made.

  1. What is the hourly rate I should charge as a professional graphic designer?
  2. How do I set up and manage my own business as a graphic designer?
  3. Where can I find work as a professional graphic designer?
  4. How do I professionally print my work?
