PPD Work Samples

Today we had our second  PPD session which prepared us for putting together samples of our work, after all when we begin contacting studios they will inevitably ask to view samples of our work (maybe ask for a portfolio) before they even consider accepting.

Working in groups, we firstly had to consider why we need to send work samples. This required us to think logically and in completing this task it led us to truly consider what purpose of us sending this information would be and what we have to offer as a designer.

Next, we considered what to send in order to showcase our talents. This made us think about how we can differentiate ourselves from others and demonstrate not only the fact that we can produce a finished piece of design but also the process we go through to get there.

We then thought about how we should send our work and how it would be received. Again, it is important that it stands out from others but remains appropriate to the product being sent.

In considering the problems that may arise as a result of sending pieces of work to design studio we hopefully will take these into consideration in order to reduce the possibility of these occurring.

All in all, today's session proved very useful in getting us to think about how to get our work out there in the best, most creative way which will get us noticed and hopefully considered by design studios.
