InPress ...Costings

When we allocated tasks yesterday, Sadie and I were given the task of tackling finance. So whilst I was looking at loans and bursaries she had a look at the initial start up costs. The plan is to then meet tomorrow to put together our calculations and come up with some final figures. Tthis is what she found....

Initial ist of things we need-

• Rental costs of two Macs (we all have our own laptops so can share two between all four of us, also Niall has an additional iMac.)
• Rental costs of one A1 digital printer
• Rental costs of one A3 scanner
• Screen beds- we could make our own like Catalogue
• Squeegees
• coating trough and emulsion
• Screens
• Acetate for exposing
• Stencil strip and degreaser
• Different stocks- printing paper for digital printer, Cartridge paper, T-shirts (anything else we may need we can buy as and when)
•  Adobe suite (look at different business packages? for use on our two iMacs)
• Look at freecycle for any freebies- furniture, things to make screen printing equipment with etc.

Francesca already has an inkjet printer and we all have our own laptops. Niall also has his own iMac.

RENTALS

Two 21.5" 4GB iMacs from RentIT to hire for one year at £50.19/pm each come to £100.38/pm... the first month to be included in the start up cost.

One flatbed A3 Epson scanner to hire for one year at £48.67/pm... also to be added to start up.

HP A1 digital printer at £208.32 four weekly.

SCREEN PRINTING EQUIPMENT

Catalogue said that they managed to make their own exposing and washing unit for screenprinting for around £50, Niall is very good at making things like this so we should overestimate and put aside £100 to make this equipment.

A professional selection pack of inks for screen based printing from wicked printing stuff (recommended by Catalogue) is £63.60... start up cost.

A pack of four 12x16 aluminium screens from wicked printing stuff for £62.60... start up cost.

12 inch coating trough for £19.20 from wicked printing stuff... start up cost.

Pack of four 12 inch wooden squeegees- with extra blades ideal for textile or paper printing £43.20... start up cost.

All purpose textile and graphic emulsion plus sensitizer £11.80... start up cost.

Pack of 50 A3 acetate sheets for exposing- for inkjet and laser printers £50.16... start up cost.

Full screen cleaning kit £53.59... start up cost.

All of the equipment separately from wicked printing stuff comes to £204.59, which seems cheaper than a lot of their kits, as a lot of them include things we don't necessarily need starting out such as a carousel and the hobbyist kits don't really have enough.

Delivery charges for orders up to £300 are £8.50
