PPD Workshop1

Today we had our first PPD talk with John and Jayne. I found this highly informative as it provided me with some great tips for getting myself out there and a rough insight as to how promote myself in order to achieve work. As well as this, we also reconsidered the two PPD tasks we were set but this time working in groups to come up with a collective response.
The first task required us to question 'Why are we here?' and come up with a list of 10 things, this is what my group came up with...

As well as thinking about course related aspects, we also considered a wider view and thought about what Leeds had to offer us. This task truly made us consider our individual points on a deeper level as we each had our own defined list but then had to convey this to the group with an explanation. Jayne circle 'industrial links' and 'challenge yourself' as ultimately to can go on creating and creating designs, but until to establish these two main factors you are not going to achieve the best you possibly can.
Here is what other group came up with...

Our second task we had to collaboratively answer with another list of 10 was the concerns we had about industrial experience. This is what our group came up with...

This really got our thinking caps on because, as John put it 'we have very little, if not no, professional/industrial experience.' Our main concerns were how to get yourself out there and keep yourself networked once you do.
Here are the lists the other groups made...

Some very similar responses.

John and Jayne then showed us an list of 10 points they had come up with, which conveyed what they suggested we should know/be aware of when we head out into the design industry...

Some helpful points to consider here.
